All our Masters Degree leaders and students went to Phnom Penh, Cambodia in January to March (2 months) to continue the Masters Program in Whole Person Health and Development. We stayed at a Korean Ministry center set up by Dr. Jun and Sohee Kim. Various sites were visited where the genocide under Pol Pot was still evident. The focus of teaching during these months was trauma. Cambodia was an appropriate place to see the aftermath of national trauma. Each of the teachers
addressed trauma from their unique standpoint. Dr. Jim Wilder taught on loving our enemies (Hebrew = hesed). Dr. Diane Langberg taught material from her book “Suffering and the Heart of God”. Darv taught from the book, “The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel Van Der Kolk, M.D. Dr. Van Der Kolk is considered the world’s number one expert and teacher on trauma and recovery. Diane Kurtenbach, staff, taught on Crisis Intervention and Recovery.
Carol taught in Salem, OR in the FCM on “God’s Design for Maturity”.
Darv visited and taught at the inner city YWAM base in San Francisco where work with a large homeless and addicted population takes place. This base is run by friends, Tim and Karol Svoboda.
Carol and Darv taught in an ABC school led by Gustavo Lima and Sandra Beuren. Darv taught on the historic definition of addiction written by King Solomon in the book of Proverbs. Leadership training was provided for the school staff.
The next three months Linda Subris and Darv mentored new leaders, Mayola Ngamchio and Ashang Kasar. They had many years of experience with ABC staff in India as well as various rehab programs in Santa Cruz, CA and Ashang in New York City and England. They pioneered a new school in Imphal, Manipur, India. A 12-week outreach in Imphal at a faith-based rehab center led by Raaj took place December to February.
